Would like to seek the help of fellow otome gamers here in a survey for my friend’s research project in otome games! She’s holding a raffle/lucky draw as well for those who participate in the survey so please do help out if you can!
Due to the content of some otome games, some of the questions within this survey may be offensive or triggering to certain audiences.
If you have a Japanese friend, you can also share a Japanese version of this survey here: http://www.instant.ly/s/2KSJM
Will the final results of the research be available to the public later, or at least to those of us who took it? Moreso than the prizes that’s what I’d personally be interested in.
the thing is
characters’ often very sad backstories are not meant first and foremost to excuse their actions/behavior or to make them “less edgy”. a backstory is just that: a story. it explains why a character is the way that they are because people are the culmination of their experiences. that’s why villains often have such tragic backstories. it’s that trauma (among other things) that helped shape them and put them on their path. it helps you understand them and their actions—to make those things somewhat comprehensible.
so when people are like “omg I liked that character because they were so hedonistic/evil/dark/edgy but now it turns out they have some sob story WOW NOW THEY’RE JUST LIKE ALL THOSE OTHER LAME, EMO CHARACTERS” I just………kind of roll my eyes a little bit.
My game Always Remember Me is now on Steam! The first otome dating sim to appear on the big portal. If you want to see more games like this on Steam, please reblog and share as much as you can!
Show them that people want to play and buy those kind of games!! :)
Believe in me who believes in you, Heisuke!
